USGA at BYU

Understanding Sexuality, Gender, and Allyship (USGA) is an unofficial group of Brigham Young University students, faculty, and guests who wish to enhance the BYU community by providing a safe space for open, respectful conversation on LGBTQ & SSA topics.

USGA is a place of refuge, our priority is to have compassion and to seek understanding through listening. Harassment or antagonism against any person or organization will not be tolerated. Members are asked to be mindful of USGA’s political neutrality and to be respectful of BYU, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the beliefs and experiences of others.

In order to maintain a safe and welcoming environment, USGA supports its members in upholding the Honor Code, and expect all participants to be respectful of others’ names, pronouns, and identities. They encourage all to not make assumptions or ask others to unwillingly disclose their identity or beliefs. They also ask attendees to refrain from using USGA as a place for romantic or sexual pursuits.
