The full collection of past Affinity issues is now available as an electronic resource. "Affinity: The First 22 Years" is a CD-Rom containing all the known issues of the Affirmation newsletter from March 1980 (charter issue) to April 2002. Starting with April 2002, Affinity issues are available on the Affirmation website. Presented in PDF format, the document can be viewed and searched using Adobe Reader, a program that can be downloaded for free. The project was carried out with donated labor by former Affinity editor James Kent, who scanned, collated, and bookmarked over 1,900 pages of Affinity issues, making this the most complete collection of Affirmation newsletters ever assembled. Affirmation thanks current Affinity editor Hugo Salinas for his efforts in formatting the collection and having the compact discs produced. We also thank Paul Mortensen, Olin Thomas, and others who allowed us to scan original Affinity issues from the 1980s and 1990s. The price for the CD-Rom is $50 for the general public and $25 for regular Affirmation members. Complimentary copies are available for anyone joining Affirmation at the “Sustaining Member” level ($50 per year) after October 19, 2006. You may also renew existing Affirmation memberships at the sustaining level and received a complimentary copy. Funds raised by sales of the Affinity Collection will be allocated first to the Jay Bell Fund for Gay Mormon Studies, established in 2003 in memory of long time Affirmation member Jay Bell who devoted much time and love in researching the record of Church pronouncements on gays and lesbians and organizing that for easy access.
