"A Bit of a Postcript"
Sue-Ann Post, Penguin Books Australia
(160 pp.) ISBN 0-14-025964-3, $14.95, OUT OF PRINT
Sue-Ann Post is a six-foot-tall lesbian with a missing front tooth, an atheist who was a member of the Mormon church until she was 19 years old. She's the first (and probably only) performer to do shows for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the World Council of Churches in the same week. She's also a person who has over-indulged her taste for red wine many times, and once tried to commit suicide by holding her breath. And she's a stand-up comic. Go figure.
In her long-awaited auto-biography, Sue-Ann tells her story with honesty, wit and humour.
"...far from being a loser, Ms Post has emerged stronger from her personal
tragedies and... is bravely in touch with contradictions that would
terrify most people... You will have to travel a good long way to find
someone whose pain has so successfully been parlayed into an extraordinary
artistic creation. Sue-Ann Post is wise, very funny and there to be
listened to." —Peter Wilmoth, The Age
