Affirmation Places Ad in Salt Lake Papers
Step Forward In Expanding Visibility
March 17, 1996
Affirmation plans to place its first pictorial advertisement in the Salt Lake City newspapers to coincide with the April 1996 General Conference weekend. Affirmation has long had a small text ad in the Advocate, a major national gay magazine. Many of our members over the years have found out about us through that source. Now, however, Affirmation is looking to expand its visibility in the mainstream media as well. Perhaps most lesbian and gay Mormons have no contact with the gay media, so advertising in general newspapers is an essential way of informing them about our existence and resources. Isolation is all too common among LDS who discover their homosexual identity. This new direction of outreach will help overcome this problem.

Do you like this ad? Do you know such ads cost up to several thousand dollars to run? If you would like to make a contribution to help ensure Affirmation maintains this kind of visibility, please send a donation to Afirmation's publicity fund, care of Affirmation's P.O. Box. Make sure your donation is earmarked for the publicity fund.
