Hello, I am a documentary filmmaker producing a film on Mormonism as told through the experiences of five different women. I am looking to find several intriguing women who have engaging stories or experiences within the church, good or bad. In particular, I am looking to find an active lesbian Mormon to interview for the film. It is not absolutely necessary that she be an active lesbian but I am looking for someone who is still active in the church.

The film “Visions of Zion” will explore the beliefs, myths and challenges of women in the Mormon religion. A thorough history will introduce the audience to this relatively young and ever growing religion, more than 10 million strong worldwide, and lay the foundation for the view on women and their role within the church. The film will address the myths perpetuated about Mormonism as it relates to women, and shed light on the true doctrines of the church, and how they positively or negatively affect the women who chose to follow them. The film will explore the struggles and pressures, as well as the joys and comforts that women find in the doctrines of the church, and see how the changing ideologies have affected women overall. The sometimes unyielding doctrine of the church, and how these individual women have come to deal with the conflict and why, will also be examined.

The film will take a very objective look at Mormonism by exploring the life of a very active outstanding LDS woman who loves and obeys the church to a woman who was excommunicated.

Currently, I am in the preliminary stages of research, searching for the appropriate women to present in the film. But I am also speaking to several women off the record for background research. If you would be at all interested in speaking with me or know of anyone who would be interested. I live in Los Angeles and can be reached there at (818) 981-1818 or via email at TashaAO@aol.com.

Thank you,
