Who's Dropping By?
Affirmation Site Visitors Are Coming from All Over

By Henry Miller
February, 1999

Almost three years ago this site was created to serve the gay and lesbian Mormon community since we could not depend on real help from our church. In the beginning we had around 30 people a day dropping by. As our reputation and resources grew, that number has slowly grown. At the close of 1998 we were averaging between 100 and 150 people a day. Not a lot for a web site, but quite a few if you were to have that many stop by your home each day asking for information or to visit.

A few things have changed since our beginnings. Today the prophet can actually say the word "gay" in public and not all church leaders fall into line with the party way of thinking. But in many ways the need for support and comfort is more needed now than ever. In the past nothing was ever said, we didn't exist. Now that our church leaders are finally realizing that we really do exist in greater numbers than they were formerly willing to admit, they are beginning to speak about us. Unfortunately these words are too often less than helpful. Today a youth growing up in the church will hear more messages of hate and condemnation about homosexuality (and thus homosexuals) than ever. A few urge understanding and compassion. Too many simply condemn and spew words that can only be described as hate speech.

This web site will continue to serve in the much needed capacity as a voice of reason in a storm of confusion and sometimes, yes, even willful ignorance. Today our message of hope, a messaged supported by our combined experiences, is reaching an audience around the world. Every now and then, we find it interesting to take a look at some of the statistics about who these people are. What follows is a listing of the top countries from where our visitors call.

The report also had a surprising assortment of domains that included educational, commercial, a vast array of organizations, US Dept of Defense, and the US Government. As always, everyone is always welcome.

If you haven't yet left your comments in our guest book or entered your information in our World Directory, please take a few moments to share your words of wisdom with your fellow gay and lesbian Mormons and their supportive families and friends.
