Stickers call Mormon candidate a "Mormon bigot"
Tom Christensen is one of two Nevada LDS candidates who recently got their political ads vandalized with stickers that read “Mormon Bigot.” The reason for the epithet: The LDS Church is supporting Question 2, a proposed measure to ban same-sex marriages. LDS spokesman Dale Bills confirmed that Mormons are part of the coalition for Question 2.

And yet not all Nevada Mormons obey blindly the directives emanating from Salt Lake City. Recent LDS convert and Nevada congressional candidate Dario Herrera says that he does not support Question 2 because it is “unnecessary.” Nevada law already defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.

In the last three years the LDS Church has campaigned aggressively for anti-gay initiatives in Hawaii, Alaska, Nebraska, and California. In the process, the Church has damaged families, alienated members, and lead gay Mormons to suicide. Many Mormons, both gay and straight, have since resigned from the Church to protest the Church’s involvement in anti-gay causes.
