Gay Mormon Couple Featured on The Advocate By Hugo Salinas Gary and Kent, a gay Mormon couple from Memphis, Tennessee, were featured on the February 17, 2004, issue of The Advocate (pp. 26-27). The couple met in 1997 while Kent was serving as a missionary in Memphis. Before the end of his mission, and with the assistance of his missionary companion, Kent had a private commitment ceremony with Gary in Memphis. Later, after living together, Kent and Gary decided to go to the 2000 March on Washington and participate in the mass wedding at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
