Along with other AIDS- and gay-related organizations, Affirmation Chile participated in events held in Santiago, Chile, as part of World AIDS Day (December 1).

Affirmation was one of the groups to have a booth on the north side of Plaza de Armas, in Santiago's historic district. Chapter members passed out some 800 brochures and displayed other Affirmation materials.

In the afternoon, Affirmation participated in an interfaith service held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago. This building is the oldest of all Roman Catholic churches in Chile and goes back to the days of the Spanish Conquest.

Affirmation members distributed bouquets with red ribbons and participated in a procession. Brus Leguás Contreras carried a candle, representing the Light, and Elías Valenzuela a copy of the LDS scriptures, symbolizing the Word. Along with a famous LDS illustration, Del Parson's The Lord Jesus Christ, these offerings were deposited on the Cathedral's main altar. One of the Catholic priests congratulated Brus and Elías for their courage in participating in the service.

After the event, Affirmation members, along with representatives from other faiths, helped distribute gifts of fruits and flowers to those who were leaving the sanctuary.
