Happy, Texas

Suits on the Loose
HaleStorm “Straightens Up” Gay-themed Film

September 2006

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the gay couple of the movie Happy, Texas was replaced by two Mormon missionaries? Now you can find out with Suits on the Loose, a comedy loosely based on the 1999 comedy starring Steve Zahn, Jeremy Northam, and William H. Macy.

In Happy, Texas, Wayne Wayne Wayne Jr . and Harry Sawyer are runaways who steal an RV belonging to two gay entrepreneurs en route to the town of Happy to produce a beauty pageant, and the runaways have to impersonate the gay couple. In Suits on the Loose, Justin and Tyler are runaways who steal a car belonging to two Mormon missionaries en route to New Harmony, and the conmen have to pose as the elders.

Suits on the Loose was produced by HaleStorm and it is now available in DVD, but—it is worth watching? When it was first released last February, Deseret News critic Jeff Vice wasn't impressed. "This predictable flat-footed comedy at least tries hard to earn some laughs," he wrote, "—so hard that you can practically see beads of perspiration."
