A straight woman has just organized a kiss-in at Temple Square in solidarity with the gay couple who were recently arrested after one kissed the other on the cheek. The grassroots demonstration will take place tomorrow, Sunday, July 12, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

The group will meet at the corner of Main Street and South Temple. All are invited to participate, gay or straight.

“Share the love, bring your sweetie, your kids, your grandma, your dog - and give them a big smooch on Main Street Plaza - to show your love!” Deeda Seed wrote on her Facebook page. “Wear a paper heart on your sleeve - so we'll be able to recognize other love advocates.”

“Bigotry is not acceptable,” says Seed. “Love is a good thing. We want to send a response to the LDS Church that is loving, kind, but also challenging.”

Seed, who will attend the event with her husband and their son, was one of two city council members who voted against selling Main Street to the LDS Church. She says this restriction of personal freedoms by the LDS Church is exactly what she feared when she voted against the deal.
