Maude Adams: Mormon, Lesbian and the Broadway’s First Peter Pan

Maude Adams never married, and the absence of relationships with men was used by Frohman, her producer, to create a public image of her being virtuous and innocent. It is now believed that Adams was a lesbian who enjoyed long-term relationships with two woman over the course of her lifetime.

Russell Ballard, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, took the opportunity to answer various questions submitted to him by young single adult members of the Church, including two questions on LGBT issues. Ballard shared his belief that LGBT people have a “place in the kingdom.”
