Legrand and His Two Husbands
They Were Discovered by Horrified Census Taker!

(AP) When Kenneth Smith, a census taker from Panguitch, reported last week the discovery of a farmer who lives in Southern Utah with his two husbands, many suspected a hoax. But the news is now confirmed by Jonathan Fleming, a Salt Lake Tribune reporter who rode by mule to the remote village where the farmer lives.

LeGrand Young admits to co-habitation with his two husbands, LaVell and LaDon. "I met LeGrand in 1943 in a barn dance near St. George," says LaVell. "It was love at first sight. Then when LaDon came into our lives, we decided it was time to become three."

The trio leads a simple life in Widtsoe Junction (population: 14), where LeGrand owns a small turkey farm. According to LeGrand, the three of them have lived in "heavenly bliss" for more than half a century. "When I hear of some Mormon leaders who now disapprove of polygamy, I think, 'hey, my great-grandfather had 27 wives. Why can't I have two husbands?'"
