Pioneer Day Picnic
You are invited to join Affirmation LGBT Mormons, Families and Friends to socialize and celebrate equality and acceptance with a picnic at historic Fort Ward Park in Alexandria, VA. Come enjoy the great outdoors and fellowship in a green, shady oasis with facilities and easy parking.
Our annual summer picnic is family-friendly and welcomes guest of all type, Church friends, LGBTQ+ friends, and furry friends. We will barbecue, chat, and run around outside in the Fort Ward Park, Picnic Area #4.
The DC Chapter will provide hot dogs, burgers, bread, condiments, watermelon and beverages. Please bring side dishes, salads and desserts. You may also bring your own veggie burgers or steaks to grill.
The park is on the AT-5 line of the Alexandria Dash bus service, however the Alexandria metro stops are closed at this time.
From 1-395 S: exit at King St E (Route 7). First right on Menokin St past the bridge. Go one block and turn right on Van Dorn st. Left at next intersection, West Braddock. Continue 1/2 miles to park entrance on left. Continue to picnic area #4.
From I-395 N: exit at Seminary Rd E. Continue to 4th traffic light, Howard St (Alexandria Hospital on right). Turn left. Howard ends at West Braddock. Turn right and the park entrance is a short distance ahead on left. Continue to picnic area #4.
