Affirmation LIVE: Monthly Virtual Fireside

by

Please join us for our next Affirmation LIVE monthly virtual fireside with guest speaker Kris Irvin and musical guest Connor Leavitt. This event will be live-streamed to Facebook, YouTube, and our website at live.affirmation.org. A recording of the event will be available on Facebook, YouTube, and our website.

Guest Speaker

Kris Irvin is a trans-masculine non-binary member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who made national news as a student at Brigham Young University when they were told they could face church discipline and expulsion from the university if they underwent breast-removal surgery. Kris has been an outspoken advocate for transgender Latter-day Saints, penning letters to the editor that have been published by The Salt Lake Tribune, The Washington Post, and other outlets. Prior to the social distancing required by COVID-19, when General Conference was an in-person event, Kris could be found greeting conference-goers with a sign encouraging them to, “Hug a Transgender Mormon.”

Musical Guest

Conner Leavitt is a vocal performance student at Utah Valley University who performed in the opera La Traviata earlier this year and in Carmen last year. Conner has been featured by Brigham Young University’s The Daily University for his advocacy of equal rights for LGBTQ people as a Mormon millennial. He sang at the grand opening of Encircle in Provo, Utah in 2017.
