We collect this information for the purposes of generally identifying you, replying to form submissions, connecting you to local regions and chapters, subscribing you to emails, attributing donations made to you, attributing memberships to you, and registering you for events. In addition, we collect your mailing address for the purpose of preventing unauthorized use of your credit or debit card when making a donation, paying membership dues, or paying event registration fees. With the withdrawal of consent or failure to provide this information, we will be unable to better connect you to local regions and chapters or communicate with you via postal mail or telephone. In addition, with the withdrawal of consent or failure to provide your mailing address at the time of making a donation, paying membership dues, or paying event registration fees, you will be unable to make these transactions.

Demographic information. This includes your birth date, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationship status, whether you are the parent of an LGBTQ child, whether you as an LGBTQ individual have children, and your relationship or level of involvement with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We collect this information for the purposes of understanding the constituency we serve and provide targeted communications based on this information. With the withdrawal of consent of failure to provide this information, our ability to understand the constituency we serve is reduced and we will be unable to provide you targeted communications based on this information.

Financial information. This includes your credit or debit card number, the expiration date for your credit or debit card, and the security code for your credit or debit card. The purpose of collecting this information is to process transactions like donations, memberships, and event registrations. With the withdrawal of consent of failure to provide this information, you will be unable to make transactions like donations, memberships, and event registrations.

Transactional information. This includes donations made, memberships established, and events registered for. This information is collected for the purposes of knowing your history of donations, memberships, and events. This information is not provided by you but is collected and attached to your record within our database. With the withdrawal of consent for us to collect this information, we will be unable to view your history of donations, memberships, and events and you will be unable to make transactions like donations, memberships, and event registrations.

Site usage information. This may include your IP address, referring website, web browser, and operating system information. We collect this information for the purposes of understanding your use of our website. With the withdrawal of consent or failure to provide this information, we will be unable to understand your use of our website and you may not be able to submit information using forms on our website.

Prohibited or illegal activities

Should we become aware of potential or in fact prohibited or illegal activities performed or to be performed by you, we may supply any and all of your information to law enforcement authorities. Notwithstanding the above, we may provide any and all of your information to the law enforcement authorities upon request by such authorities.

Children’s privacy

This Website is intended for use by a general audience, which may include children under the age of 13. Should a child under the age of 13 send personal information to us, we will use that information to respond directly to the child to inform them that they cannot use this Website without verified parental consent and remove all of their personal information from our mailing list, website, or working databases.

For the purposes of event registrations, users aged 13 and above may register children under the age of 13 for events; however, only personal information relevant to the children under the age of 13 attending and participating in the event will be saved and will only be used for the purposes of the event for which the children under the age of 13 have been registered.

Third-party vendors. We may share your information such as your basic contact information, additional contact information, and financial information with fraud prevention parties for the sole purpose of preventing or investigating fraud. We may share your information such as your basic contact information, additional contact information, demographic information, transactional information, and partial financial information with Mailchimp for the purpose of sending you emails, including our e-newsletter, upcoming events, announcements, and opportunities to support our work. We may share your basic contact information, additional contact information, and transactional information contact with Quickbooks to record donations, membership payments, and event registration payments. We may share your information such as basic contact information, additional contact information, demographic information, and transactional information with Salesforce for the purpose of our own record keeping, reporting, and communications. We may share your information such as your basic contact information, additional contact information, and financial information with Stripe for the purpose of processing payments.

Volunteer leaders and event coordinators: We may share your information with volunteer leadership of Affirmation areas, regions, or chapters including basic contact information, additional contact information, demographic information, and transactional information for the purposes of allowing volunteer leaders to organize and communicate within their areas, regions, or chapters. We may share your information with event coordinators, including your name, email, registration status, attendance status, and other information required for the purpose of organizing and coordinating the event.

Parties that need to operate the website. We may share your information with parties that need to operate the website for the purposes of fixing bugs, implementing new features and improvements and for cybersecurity purposes.

Advertising companies. We may share your information such as your basic contact information, additional contact information, and demographic information with advertising companies and services, including Facebook, Twitter, and Google, to allow such companies to advertise Affirmation and our announcements and events to you. We do not sell your information to advertising companies.

Other than as set out above, you will be notified when personal information about you will be shared with third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to have us share such information.

Sale of your personal information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Information retention

We retain basic contact information, additional contact information, demographic information, transactional information, and site usage information indefinitely for the purposes of ongoing communications and reporting unless you request that your personal information be deleted. Upon such a request, your personal information will be deleted or otherwise anonymized from or within our mailing list, working databases, and website. We do not retain complete financial information on our website or working database. This information is securely stored by Stripe, our third-party payment processor.
