En el transcurso de esta entrevista de tres horas, Tom explora su experiencia, fe y perspectiva de ser LGBT y morm\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rddApDZWYOU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nEn la primera parte de la entrevista, Tom habla sobre su crianza, familia y participaci\u00f3n en la iglesia. \u00c9l comparte c\u00f3mo esperaba que su orientaci\u00f3n sexual cambiara mientras cumpl\u00eda una misi\u00f3n, y su decepci\u00f3n cuando no fue as\u00ed.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u201cCuando fui a la misi\u00f3n, toda mi oraci\u00f3n fue: &#039;Est\u00e1 bien, har\u00e9 lo mejor que pueda y luego, si soy un buen misionero, me quitar\u00e1s esto&#039;\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom comparte sus pensamientos sobre las comparaciones injustas que a menudo se hacen entre miembros homosexuales y lesbianas de la iglesia y otros miembros de la iglesia que son solteros. Tom habla de las dificultades de intentar estar en un matrimonio de orientaci\u00f3n mixta.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cLa decisi\u00f3n de poner fin al matrimonio forma parte de ese sentimiento de haber llegado tan lejos como pude por este camino por el que he estado viajando. A eso<\/strong> <strong>Me sent\u00ed como si hubiera hecho todo lo posible para tratar de ser morm\u00f3n y gay, y decir gay en voz baja. Ahora necesitaba averiguar si pod\u00eda ser feliz y gay &quot;.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom comparti\u00f3 c\u00f3mo una vez que decidi\u00f3 explorar la posibilidad de ser gay, sinti\u00f3 que no encajaba ni con la comunidad gay ni con la comunidad mormona. Gran parte de su comprensi\u00f3n de la comunidad gay era estereotipada y descubri\u00f3 que esos estereotipos no eran ciertos. Tambi\u00e9n encontr\u00f3 Afirmaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cDescubr\u00ed Afirmaci\u00f3n justo despu\u00e9s de salir del armario. Eso se convirti\u00f3 en mi salvavidas. Hab\u00eda personas que hablaban gay y personas que hablaban morm\u00f3n y yo pod\u00eda aprender en un entorno en el que pod\u00eda traducir con otras personas que pod\u00edan entender qu\u00e9 era la traducci\u00f3n. Eso fue de gran ayuda para m\u00ed &quot;.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Para finalizar la primera parte de la entrevista, Tom habla sobre conocer al hombre que se convertir\u00eda en su compa\u00f1ero de 19 a\u00f1os, su decisi\u00f3n de pedir la excomulgaci\u00f3n y c\u00f3mo se sinti\u00f3 sobre ese proceso.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cYo era un morm\u00f3n bastante miserable que pretend\u00eda no ser gay. Era una persona gay muy feliz al no ser morm\u00f3n. Ahora me siento como una persona gay feliz que es mormona \u201d.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8qr8oquDvmM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>En la segunda parte de la entrevista, Tom analiza el proceso gradual de su regreso a la iglesia, los l\u00edderes de la iglesia local que lo recibieron con los brazos abiertos y c\u00f3mo su regreso afect\u00f3 su relaci\u00f3n con su pareja.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cHablamos de las calificaciones para ingresar al templo, pero creo que solo hay dos calificaciones para ingresar a la capilla. Una es que tienes alg\u00fan deseo de conocer a Cristo y acercarte. Dos es que est\u00e1s dispuesto a empujar la puerta para abrirla. Eso es. Cualquiera deber\u00eda sentirse bienvenido, querido y amado si hace el esfuerzo de entrar; lo que crean o donde sea que est\u00e9n. Creo que podemos hacerlo mucho mejor &quot;.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom comparte su sentimiento acerca de obedecer la Ley de Castidad como miembro de la iglesia y vivir una vida c\u00e9libe como un hombre gay.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cNo estoy tratando de ser el vendedor para el celibato\u2026 Seg\u00fan mi experiencia, es una circunstancia cualitativamente diferente si sientes que est\u00e1s eligiendo ser c\u00e9libe que si sientes que te est\u00e1n imponiendo\u2026 Mi sensaci\u00f3n es que si es una curso dirigido puede haber felicidad y plenitud.
