En el transcurso de esta entrevista de tres horas, Tom explora su experiencia, fe y perspectiva de ser LGBT y Morm\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rddApDZWYOU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nEn la primera parte de la entrevista, Tom habla sobre su educaci\u00f3n, su familia y su participaci\u00f3n en la Iglesia. \u00c9l comparte c\u00f3mo esperaba que su orientaci\u00f3n sexual se cambiara mientras cumpl\u00eda una misi\u00f3n, y su desilusi\u00f3n cuando no lo hizo.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00abCuando estaba en mi misi\u00f3n, todas mis oraciones fueron una sola: &#039;Est\u00e1 bien, har\u00e9 lo mejor que pueda y luego, si soy realmente un buen misionero, me lo quitar\u00e1s&#039;\u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom comparte sus pensamientos sobre las comparaciones injustas que a menudo se hacen entre los miembros gais y lesbianas de la Iglesia y otros miembros de la Iglesia que son solteros. Tom discute las dificultades de su intento de estar en un matrimonio de orientaci\u00f3n mixta.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00abLa decisi\u00f3n de terminar con el matrimonio fue por causa de la certeza de haber ido tan lejos como pude por el camino que recorr\u00ed como consecuencia. En ese<\/strong> <strong>punto sent\u00ed como si hubiera hecho todo lo que pod\u00eda para ser gay y morm\u00f3n, con la parte gay susurrada. Ahora necesita averiguar si pod\u00eda ser feliz y gay \u00bb.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom comparti\u00f3 que una vez que decidi\u00f3 explorar ser gay, no sent\u00ed que encajara con la comunidad gay o la comunidad mormona. Gran parte de su comprensi\u00f3n de la comunidad gay era estereotipada, y descubri\u00f3 que esos estereotipos no eran ciertos. \u00c9l tambi\u00e9n encontr\u00f3 Afirmaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00abDescubr\u00ed Afirmaci\u00f3n justo despu\u00e9s de salir del closet. Eso se convirti\u00f3 en mi salvaci\u00f3n. Hab\u00eda personas que hablaban gay y personas que hablaban morm\u00f3n y que pod\u00eda aprender en un entorno en el que pod\u00eda traducir con otras personas que pod\u00edan entender lo que era la traducci\u00f3n. Eso fue de gran ayuda para m\u00ed \u00bb.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Para finalizar la primera parte de la entrevista, Tom habla sobre conocer al hombre que se convertir\u00eda en su compa\u00f1ero de 19 a\u00f1os, su decisi\u00f3n de pedir ser excomulgado y c\u00f3mo se sinti\u00f3 durante ese proceso.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00abEra un morm\u00f3n bastante miserable que pretend\u00eda no ser gay. Era una persona gay muy feliz que no era mormona. Ahora siento que soy una persona gay, feliz, que es mormona \u00bb.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8qr8oquDvmM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>En la segunda parte de la entrevista, Tom analiza el proceso gradual de su regreso a la Iglesia, los l\u00edderes de la Iglesia local que lo recibieron con los brazos abiertos y c\u00f3mo su regreso impact\u00f3 su relaci\u00f3n con su pareja.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00abHablamos sobre los requisitos para ingresar al templo, pero creo que solo hay dos requisitos para ingresar a la capilla. Una es que tienes un deseo de conocer a Cristo y acercarte. Dos es que est\u00e1s dispuesto a abrir la puerta. Eso es. Cualquiera debe sentirse bienvenido, querido y amado si hacen el esfuerzo de entrar; lo que sea que crean o donde sea que est\u00e9n. Creo que podemos hacerlo mucho mejor \u00bb.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tom comparte su sentimiento acerca de obedecer la Ley de Castidad como miembro de la Iglesia y vivir una vida c\u00e9libe como un hombre gay.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u00abNo estoy tratando de vender el celibato\u2026 Desde mi experiencia, es una circunstancia cualitativamente diferente si sientes que eliges ser c\u00e9libe, que si sientes que se te est\u00e1 imponiendo\u2026 Yo siento que si eso est\u00e1 dirigido internamente entonces habr\u00e1 felicidad y satisfacci\u00f3n.
