Nuestro \u00faltimo viaje por carretera juntos fue bendecido. Fue un tiempo bien aprovechado con mi madre (ya fallecida) visitando todos los sitios de la Iglesia SUD cerca de Palmyra, Nueva York.<\/p>\n

En un hermoso d\u00eda de principios de oto\u00f1o, mi mam\u00e1 y yo visitamos la Arboleda Sagrada para obtener inspiraci\u00f3n y respuestas a nuestras oraciones. Mientras caminaba por el sitio donde Jos\u00e9 Smith tuvo una visi\u00f3n, esperaba tener el esp\u00edritu de Dios conmigo. Cuando los terrenos quedaron en silencio y no hubo visitantes presentes, ambos nos arrodillamos en el centro de la Arboleda Sagrada para orar humildemente. Mi madre me pidi\u00f3 que dijera la oraci\u00f3n en voz alta y nos tomamos de la mano.<\/p>\n

Pregunt\u00e9 en mi oraci\u00f3n si Dios me aceptaba como hombre gay y si es un pecado ser gay, ya que fui excomulgado de la Iglesia SUD. Una abrumadora presencia del Esp\u00edritu de Dios cay\u00f3 sobre m\u00ed. No, no tuve una visi\u00f3n ni nada por el estilo, pero me sent\u00ed extremadamente en paz y sent\u00ed un presente c\u00e1lido y dulce de amor.<\/p>\n

Anteriormente, en numerosas ocasiones la iglesia trat\u00f3 de \u201carreglarme\u201d o curarme de ser gay a trav\u00e9s de la terapia y casi alej\u00e1ndome de mi familia. Sin mencionar que me dieron el libro \u201cMilagros del perd\u00f3n\u201d para leer. No pude evitar sentir que, de alguna manera, estar\u00eda mejor muerta que viva. Entonces, en una profunda depresi\u00f3n, trat\u00e9 de terminar con mi vida suicid\u00e1ndome.<\/p>\n

Me rompi\u00f3 el coraz\u00f3n que la Iglesia SUD me rechazara en lugar de aceptarme. Experiment\u00e9 una sensaci\u00f3n de gran dolor en toda mi alma. \u00bfC\u00f3mo podr\u00edan mis hermanos y hermanas alejarse de m\u00ed en mi hora m\u00e1s oscura?<\/p>\n

Cuando termin\u00e9 la oraci\u00f3n, mi madre y yo ten\u00edamos l\u00e1grimas en los ojos. Salimos lentamente de la Arboleda Sagrada y no hablamos. Ambos sentimos el mismo amor en nuestros corazones. Al salir de la Arboleda Sagrada, ambos notamos esta hoja tirada en el suelo. Era gigante y hermoso. Entonces, lo recog\u00ed y me lo llev\u00e9 a casa en recuerdo de ese d\u00eda.
