Portland Chapter Guest Speaker: Jillian King Sheffield

Jillian King Sheffield is no stranger to speaking in front of groups. She has taught in public schools for 20 years in both California and Oregon. A graduate of Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education – English, Jillian went on to earn a master's degree in English Education from California State University – Northridge. She grew up in a boisterous LDS family in Lancaster, California. She relocated to Oregon several years ago to "find [her] lumberjack."

In Oregon, Jillian met her Mr. Right (Keith Sheffield), which prompted a "coming out" to her parents about marrying someone not LDS. Jillian and Keith got married during the COVID pandemic.

Her talk will describe her life's journey, her dating experiences at BYU and beyond, her current relationship with the church, her negotiations with her bishop about the wording of her wedding ceremony, etc. Jillian easily relates to the LDS LGBTQ community's frustrations with the LDS church when it comes to an "outside the box" relationship.

Jill is an LGBTQ ally and a believer in unconditional love for everyone. She is a fantastic speaker and you won't want to miss her presentation.

Jillian will be speaking on Saturday, 9/4/21 at 4pm in the movie theater at Club 1201 – 1201 NE Horizon Loop – Hillsboro, Oregon. Due to room capacity limits, you must reserve your seat for this talk by emailing [email protected]. We can only accommodate a total of 25 guests.
