Affirmation is a Community

Our vision for Affirmation is that we be a refuge to land, heal, share, and be authentic. We do this by accomplishing our mission to create worldwide communities of safety, love, and hope for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families and friends who intersect with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Affirmation is Your Community

Consistent with our vision and mission, all are welcome to seek refuge, land, heal, and be authentic within Affirmation's communities of safety, love, and hope. Whether you participate in Affirmation's communities in person or virtually, donate to Affirmation, register for or attend an Affirmation event, subscribe to emails from Affirmation, or follow Affirmation on social media, this is your community. You are an Affirmation community member.

Voting Membership

While all who participate and engage with Affirmation are community members, voting membership is granted to community members who demonstrate a commitment to accomplishing the mission of Affirmation through their financial support, service as a volunteer leader, or a consistent level of engagement. Voting members are the members described in our charter and bylaws as the ultimate governing authority of the organization. Voting members elect the President of Affirmation every two years and vote on whether to approve recommended changes to the charter and bylaws.

Three Ways to Become a Voting Member

Engagement

Community members who subscribe to Affirmation emails, have been subscribed for at least one year, consistently read and click on links in Affirmation emails, and attend at least three Affirmation events, may be granted voting membership.

Liderança

Community members who serve as volunteer community leaders within Affirmation's areas, regions, chapters, or affinity groups are voting members of Affirmation for the duration of their service.

Financial Support

Community members who donate to Affirmation at least $10 within a calendar year to support Affirmation's mission are sustaining members and voting members of Affirmation. Sustaining members are also eligible for recognition and other benefits based on the level of their sustaining membership.

You do not need to apply to become a voting member of Affirmation. Voting membership is granted automatically based on the above criteria. You will be notified with your status as a voting member changes.

Sustaining Membership

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Affirmation relies on the generosity of donors. Without this generosity, Affirmation would not be able to accomplish our mission. All community members are encouraged to further support Affirmation by becoming sustaining members. As a sustaining member, financially support the mission of Affirmation to create communities of safety, love, and hope for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families and friends who intersect with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints around the world.
