A maior homenagem da Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 o Pr\u00eamio Mortensen. O pr\u00eamio \u00e9 entregue a cada ano em nossa confer\u00eancia anual a um membro da Affirmation que serviu \u00e0 organiza\u00e7\u00e3o em lideran\u00e7a e servi\u00e7o excepcionais durante o ano passado. Qualquer pessoa pode indicar um potencial destinat\u00e1rio. O comit\u00ea de decis\u00e3o do Mortensen Award \u00e9 composto por todos os ex-ganhadores do Mortensen Award. O pr\u00eamio leva o nome de Paul Mortensen, um dos fundadores da Affirmation.<\/p>\n

Sobre o premiado: John Gustav-Wrathall\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

John tem servido \u00e0 comunidade LGBT m\u00f3rmon desde que come\u00e7ou seu Young Stranger blog<\/em><\/a> quase uma d\u00e9cada atr\u00e1s. Centenas, sen\u00e3o milhares, de m\u00f3rmons LGBT, familiares e amigos leram este blog e, como disse um m\u00f3rmon LGBT, \u201ca leitura salvou muitas vidas!\u201d<\/p>\n

John se envolveu mais ativamente na Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o como orador principal na confer\u00eancia de 2011 no Templo de Kirtland. Ele, ent\u00e3o, serviu como reserva no Comit\u00ea Executivo em 2012 e atuou no comit\u00ea da confer\u00eancia de Seattle em 2012. Ele se tornou vice-presidente s\u00eanior da Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o em 2013 e continuou nessa fun\u00e7\u00e3o durante 2014. John tamb\u00e9m liderou o planejamento do retiro de lideran\u00e7a de Nauvoo bem-sucedido deste ano.<\/p>\n

Como vice-presidente s\u00eanior, ele tem sido um l\u00edder e executor constante e confi\u00e1vel da Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o, desenvolvendo comunicados \u00e0 imprensa, conte\u00fado do site, atraindo uma variedade de escritores para escrever para n\u00f3s e desenvolvendo outras comunica\u00e7\u00f5es. Ele fez uma infinidade de telefonemas para ter conversas individuais com indiv\u00edduos sobre os objetivos e estrat\u00e9gias da Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o e para pedir dinheiro.<\/p>\n

Ele conduziu workshops e falou em outros eventos LGBT ou M\u00f3rmons e representou a Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o em redes de not\u00edcias nacionais. Ele viajou por todo o pa\u00eds para S\u00e3o Francisco, Washington, DC, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Seattle e M\u00e9xico para apoiar os eventos da Afirma\u00e7\u00e3o. Ele organizou v\u00e1rias marchas na parada do Orgulho das Cidades G\u00eameas.<\/p>\n

John tamb\u00e9m construiu relacionamentos importantes com os oficiais da Igreja SUD em n\u00edvel local e da sede. Suas viagens a Chicago inclu\u00edram ajudar a apoiar o cap\u00edtulo com seus eventos de di\u00e1logo com a lideran\u00e7a da Estaca Chicago. Sua atividade em sua ala e estaca mostrou a v\u00e1rios l\u00edderes SUD locais o valor de ter m\u00f3rmons gays nos bancos.<\/p>\n

Provavelmente, a maior contribui\u00e7\u00e3o de John foi como ele corajosamente proclamou sua cren\u00e7a de que uma pessoa pode ser gay e m\u00f3rmon, se quiser, e ent\u00e3o foi um poderoso exemplo vivo de como isso pode ser feito.
