We Are Sons and Daughters of God, of Immeasurable Worth

February 14, 2016 |

We can study and bring to pass for ourselves a life full of progress, and we can help bring this message of hope to others who need it, including leaders, parents and children

Principle…not policy…

February 7, 2016 |

God made us a promise. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” God hears and answers prayers and He is intimately aware of the trials and tribulations that we face. And he will never abandon those who seek Him out and ask in faith…believing that He will answer.

Your Children Are Listening

February 5, 2016 |

I put on a happy face during my teenage years. Not even my family knew how much I was hurting. So please understand that your/our children are listening. Negative comments about LGBTQ people or negative comments about gay marriage will hurt. The wounds can run deep and are long lasting.

All Flesh

I see a grassroots yearning for more satisfactory answers to our existential questions about homosexuality, and more satisfactory resolutions to the challenges created by the existence of gay people in a social system that was designed as if they didn’t really exist. As far as I can tell, our leadership at the highest levels is not “out of touch” with the general membership when it comes to this. They are wrestling with the issues as much as anyone else, though their process is not as publicly visible.

A Sacred Journey

By Nick Einbender
People will always trump policy and the spirit of Christ is not found in a blanket policy that isolates people from the blessing that Christ’s Gospel offers freely to us all. His simple invitation to “Come Follow Me” was never accompanied by footnotes, disclaimers, addendums, policies, or attachments.

God’s Costly Love

September 27, 2015 |

It is only then when we touch the pain that we are in a position to be able to mourn. To be able to enter that second covenant. To mourn with that person. It is only then that we can truly comfort. That we can be good friends… Only then, when we understand the pain, can we offer words of comfort that reach deeply. And only then can we take upon ourselves the name of Christ.

Suffering, Discipleship and the Irresistible Power of Love

September 26, 2015 |

It’s not enough to stand on the periphery and wait for God to come to you. Like Jared and the sacred stones, we have to show initiative, energy, and courage in fighting our way through the throngs to ensure our sacred encounter with God. We have to break down walls, some of which may be of our own creation.

Found in Europe

July 26, 2015 |

Read a report of the first Affirmation Europe conference that was held in June this year. People attended from the UK, Ireland, Germany and Spain. “Never have I witnessed such beautiful vulnerability. With each word uttered I received revelation that God indeed loves every one of his children.”

Navigating Conflict and Difficult Messages Post Supreme Court Ruling Discussion

July 7, 2015 |

Affirmation held a virtual meeting of LGBTQ/SSA Mormons, Families & Friends in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling on marriage and the First Presidency letter responding to it. Participants shared experiences of family, friends and Church members and leaders responding to these events. The purpose was to learn from both positive and negative experiences, and to discuss ways to deal with stress and conflict and to engage in constructive dialog.
