Declaração da Affirmation: Mórmons LGBTQ, Famílias e Amigos

Carol Lynn Pearson with Lifetime Award

agosto 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Carol Lynn Pearson, a beloved author, poet, advocate, and friend of Affirmation.

For decades, Carol Lynn’s voice brought hope, compassion, and healing to LGBTQ Latter-day Saints, their families, and allies around the world. Through her writing, speaking, and unwavering commitment to love and understanding, she helped countless individuals discover that they were worthy of belonging, faith, and authentic lives.

Carol Lynn shared her wisdom with the Affirmation community on numerous occasions, including as a keynote speaker at our 2013 International Conference and as a featured presenter during our 2020 International Conference. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions to our community, Affirmation was honored to present her with our first Lifetime Achievement Award.

Her influence reaches far beyond the books she wrote or the stages from which she spoke. She gave language to experiences that many struggled to express, encouraged difficult but necessary conversations, and inspired generations to choose compassion over fear and love over exclusion.

We extend our deepest condolences to Carol Lynn’s family, friends, and all who were touched by her remarkable life and legacy. We are grateful for the gifts she shared so generously with our community and for the enduring example she leaves behind.

In the coming days, Affirmation will publish a more comprehensive tribute celebrating Carol Lynn Pearson’s life, her relationship with our organization, and the lasting impact she has had on LGBTQ Latter-day Saints and those who love them.

May her memory continue to inspire us to build communities of belonging, hope, and unconditional love.
