Elders Oaks and Ballard Leave Many Questions Unanswered at Young Single Adult Broadcast

Young single adults from around the world submitted over four thousand questions to Elders Oaks and Ballard to consider answering during a worldwide broadcast. More than one hundred of those questions dealt with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender members of the LDS Church or their family members and friends. Here’s what they answered, and some of what they did not.

The biggest thanks however goes to Our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I have come up from the depths of hell to be among His blessed children to give back to others and show others that life does exist for those of us who are LGBT and we have meaning and purpose. He’s the one that has given me my talents and it’s been through my experiences here on earth, including finally coming fully out as being gay.

Finding Hope

I can promise you that you can find hope, strength and courage to fight and help others fight. You can find a voice in a world that says we don’t deserve to have one. You can find yourself as you serve others in our community. It’s like the song says, “Love can build a bridge from your heart to mine”.

This woman, one day, on campus she put up a sign that said, “Be Brave.” She made it out of paper and yarn and stuff, and she put it up. I had no idea who had made it. She put up this sign that just happened to be on my bike ride onto campus. And she put it up right around the time of the policy. So the first time I saw it, I thought, “Wow. This is a message for me.”
