Much of the organization’s work is sustained through volunteer leadership, allowing financial resources to be directed primarily toward programs that strengthen community support, leadership development, and outreach for LGBTQ individuals and families connected to Mormon faith traditions.

Financial oversight and budgeting practices are maintained under the organization’s governing board's guidance to ensure responsible resource management and long-term sustainability.

Affirmation continues to strengthen its operational capacity through strategic fundraising initiatives and modest staffing support that help sustain program delivery and organizational stability.

How Contributions Support the Mission

Support from donors and partners helps sustain programs that foster connection, belonging, and understanding for LGBTQ individuals navigating Mormon cultural and faith contexts.

Contributions support:

• Moderated peer-support communities and affinity groups
• Leadership development for chapter and community leaders
• Conferences and gatherings that create safe and affirming spaces
• Educational resources for families and allies
• Outreach that connects individuals to supportive community networks

Because Affirmation operates largely through volunteer leadership, contributions primarily support community programs rather than large administrative structures.

Affirmation is one of the few organizations dedicated specifically to supporting LGBTQ individuals and families navigating Mormon faith and cultural communities.

Affirmation is an independent nonprofit organization and is not affiliated with or governed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Understanding Annual Financial Variations
