Almost two years ago, Stockton; a seventeen-year-old who loved to swim, play guitar, and sing; was lost to suicide. The Stockton Powers Memorial Scholarship was launched this year to remember Stockton and to help other young people achieve their life goals.

We regret to announce the passing of Kerry Rutz, 53, who took his life in New York on February 25. Kerry grew up in an LDS family, but at age 24 he left the church.

Within chaos theory there is the idea that “a butterfly flaps its wings in California and creates a monsoon in China,” and so it is with Affirmation.
Reading the various reviews of the new LDS Church-authorized book, Massacre at Mountain Meadows, prompts me to stand as witness for another tragic killing of a group of people in our community for which — when we have the benefit of history — we will be deeply ashamed.
