I knew when I was 9 years old that I was a boy. I knew by 12 that I liked girls. I didn’t realize until I was a teenager that the world really did just see me as a girl…. In November of 2014, I finally came out to my bishopric and told them I identify as male.
Join us in the Land of Zion, May 13-15, 2016, for the “No More Strangers” Leadership & Spiritual Retreat Weekend. To be held at the beautiful Lake Doniphan Conference and Retreat Center in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. We define leadership as service. Anybody who is interested in getting involved in the work of strengthening and supporting LGBT Mormons, and who wants to get more involved in the work of Affirmation is invited to join us.
We will be exploring themes related to claiming our faith, claiming our space in Zion, and creating communities where there are “no more strangers.” We will explore history, spirituality, vital skills for leadership in the LGBT Mormon community.
As a church we must find our way just as individual members must find their way. I have faith that one day there will be a place in Heavenly Father’s Church for all of his children. I do not know the path, nor do I know when, or how, or with what special conditions, … but I can wait. I know Heavenly Father loves each of us, and eventually we will find a safe, welcoming “home” as members within His church.
Para tener una relación sana con la Iglesia, debemos tener una fuerte relación con Dios. Tenemos que creer en el amor de Dios hacia nosotros, y tenemos que confiar en que Dios nos puede guiar en el camino de nuestra felicidad más grande, incluso cuando ese camino parece ir en contra de lo que esperan nuestros amigos y familiares que nos rodean.
Constantemente me preguntaba ¿cómo hacer que mi espiritualidad no se apague? Lo que puedo compartirles de ello es que Dios está en todas partes y toda creación de Dios tiene un propósito, y yo, así como tú, tenemos un propósito.
Nos reunimos del 7 al 9 de agosto en un centro de retiro en las afueras de Querétaro, México, una de las ciudades más seguras de México, próspera y de rápido crecimiento, ubicada a pocas horas al norte de la Ciudad de México. Vinieron mormones LGBT de las todas partes de México, dos de Perú y uno de Colombia.
The Colombia conference deviated in some significant ways from the format we’ve developed for most other Affirmation conferences in the depth of ecumenical sharing and in the emphasis on non-cognitive ways of learning, experiencing and sharing.
In order for us to have a healthy relationship with the Church, we have to have a strong relationship with God…. If it is difficult for us to believe in God, at the very least we need to trust ourselves.
Ayer fue el gran día de su bautismo. Nervioso y feliz a la vez por el gran paso que decidió tomar. Al salir del bautismo explico con alegria: “es lo mejor que me pudo pasar”. Luego de su bautismo tuvo una entrevista con el primer consejero de la misión, quien le dijo que “Él será un gran ejemplo a seguir.”
