Purposefully separate yourself from those things or people that hurt you. No matter how bad your family members are, you cannot stop being who you are.
Science matters. If we embrace the findings of science, that sexual orientation and gender identity are biologically indelibly imprinted during fetal development and that they are varieties of normal, then we become a more just society as well as recipients of the enormous gifts that LGBT people bring to the table.
If the LDS Church really is sincere, if it really proclaims itself to be Jesus Christ’s church and this new ministry movement is more than just an experiment, then it has to do more than put out the welcome mat and proclaim an open-door policy. It has to do more than display a sign in front of its buildings stating “Visitors Welcome.”
