Kate Mower
Dr. Kate Mower and University of Utah Digital Archives Librarian Jessica Brieman explore how to “queer” your life and history by rethinking Mormonism and historical narratives through an LGBTQIA+ lens.…
On January 1st, Melissa-Malcolm King, Francisco Ruiz, and Kate Mower began their terms as president, senior vice president, and vice president of Affirmation: LGBTQ Mormons, Families & Friends. This presidency forms Affirmation’s executive committee. The executive committee serves as the leadership of the board of directors and as the executive of the organization, overseeing its day-to-day work.
Current Affirmation Board Member Melissa-Malcolm King was the only presidential candidate to declare by the October 7 deadline and has nominated fellow board members Francisco Ruiz and Kate Mower as senior vice president and vice president, respectively. Once elected and ratified, they will begin their service on January 1st, 2023.
Since queer students are being disciplined for a rule that no longer exists, they are being discriminated against for doing things that abide by the Law of Chastity but aren’t explicit in the Honor Code any longer.
We are excited to announce the appointment of four new members to the Affirmation Board of Directors, Melissa-Malcolm King, Juan Carlos Peralta Rodríguez, Kate Mower, and Heidi Ramirez. Three members of the board have completed their terms of service or will complete their term at the end of the month, Justis Tuia, Francisco Villalobos, and Randall Thacker.
Affirmation is pleased to announce the appointment or election of the following leaders of their respective regions, chapters, and Affinity Groups.
