My Personal Invitation for You to Attend International Conference this Year

Affirmation’s International Conference is just nine weeks away.

I still remember my first international conference in September of 2015. It was the first time I was flooded with messages of joy and happiness because of my sexual orientation, not despite it. 

I met people who were doing remarkable things to make the road easier for those who follow.  It was a phenomenal feeling—electric—to be in a place where I could be completely authentic and affirmed.

These conferences are reunions of the best kind. Simply put, it is a one-of-a-kind experience to encounter the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community in a space that acknowledges not only our Queer joy, but also our personal intersections with faith and spirituality.  

But then, in 2020, a global event occurred that changed all our lives.  For two years, International Conferences were held virtually because of the pandemic. We succeeded in these virtual efforts, but as we all know—after living life through the virtual world of Zoom and social media—nothing beats being together in person.

This October, from the 7th through the 9th, we will hold our International Conference in person in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Salt Palace. 

This will be my last International Conference as president of Affirmation. It has been an absolute honor to serve and, in this moment, I want to kick off our 2022 International Conference with the same excitement and celebration that I felt all those years ago at my very first International Conference. 

We have a strong lineup of powerful speakers, performers, workshops, and presentations. We will have dinner together during the opening session on Friday and a dance Saturday evening.

This is Affirmation’s flagship conference, and I personally invite you to attend this year. I cannot wait to see you. And if I do not yet know you, I cannot wait to meet you.
