Beloved Affirmation Community!
Conference time is coming soon, and we are excited to have amazing speakers, programs and workshops focusing on youth empowerment, trans and genderqueer stories, self-care, intersectionality, finding an authentic spiritual path, and much, much more!
In order to keep conference both financially accessible and high quality we need donations. We currently need about $15,000 dollars to help us cover the gap between conference registration income and conference expenses.
This past year, we organized 10 regional conferences in the U.S., Latin America and Europe, and we are planning to organize even more in the coming year. We anticipate a need of about $30,000 to cover these costs.
Finally, based on our strategic planning this past year, we feel Affirmation is ready to take a major new step as an organization: hire a full-time staff person to coordinate volunteers, provide office support to the executive committee and board, manage our media relations and our web site, and help with grant-writing and fund-raising. We believe this will enable us to reach many more people much more effectively than we can right now with volunteer power alone. We need to secure about $60,000 before we can proceed with this big step forward.
I am excited to be able to announce that an anonymous donor recently gave Affirmation a grant of $25,000, to help us meet these goals. This person said to me, “The work you’re doing is saving life and giving hope and breath to people.”
Please consider making a donation of any amount that you are able. Given the heart-breaking challenges of the past year, the need for the life-saving community and connection that Affirmation offers has never been greater.
Even small donations make a big difference, since big funders and granting institutions look to see if we have a broad funding base of many small donors in evaluating whether we are viable as an organization.
