Randall Thacker: “We hope for the honor, privilege, and blessing of full recognition”

by Hugo Salinas

On March 26 and 27, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments related to Prop 8 and DOMA. The decision will have a profound effect on the movement for marriage equality. Vigils and other events will be held on Monday and throughout the week at the steps of Supreme Court and in many cities across the country.

“This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for,” says Affirmation President Randall Thacker. “We hope that our families and relationships will have bestowed upon them the honor, privilege, and blessing of full recognition.”

Mormons will be participating and speaking at several of these events, in Utah and elsewhere. Most of the events will be held Monday evening. Events marked in purple are being organized by faith-based organizations. If you have updates about LDS/Affirmation participation in these events, please send me an email so that this announcement can be updated.

    • In Salt Lake City, a vigil will be held on March 25 at the Public Library’s amphitheater, 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
    • In Logan, P-FLAG supporters and friends will hold a candlelight vigil on march 25 on the steps of the Cache Valley Courthouse, 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
