As the leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints transitions, we recognize that moments of change in Church leadership often bring both hope and anxiety for LGBTQIA+ Latter-day Saints, their families, and friends.

Affirmation exists to provide communities of safety, love, and hope where all can be affirmed in their authentic identities. While we do not speak for the Church, we affirm the dignity, worth, and self-determination of LGBTQIA+ individuals regardless of the policies or teachings that may come from religious institutions.

We call on all communities of faith, including the LDS Church, to respond to this moment with compassion and openness—seeking understanding and acceptance rather than fear or exclusion.

For our part, Affirmation will continue to:

  • Create spaces where LGBTQIA+ people and their families can find belonging.
  • Offer resources and peer support rooted in hope and resilience.
  • Advocate for dialogue that reduces harm and builds bridges of understanding.

We invite our community to remain grounded in resilience. Leadership may change, but our mission endures: to affirm and celebrate the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals, no matter their relationship with faith or the Church.

With gratitude and hope,
