For his performance as the Emcee in Cabaret at the Welk Resort San Diego, Parsons was nominated by the SD Critics Circle for the Craig Noel Award- Outstanding Lead Performance in a Musical. Also at the Welk, he starred as Molina in Kiss of the Spider Woman (Robby Award- Best Actor in a Musical). He opened for Tony Award-winner Donna McKechnie in her solo show Same Place, Another Time.

Being a Gay Mormon Performer

Recently, Jeffrey was interviewed by the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California, where he shared some of his thoughts on being a gay Mormon performer, saying, “My faith and my work have sort of held hands. Sometimes the shows that come my way, I feel, answer questions that I’ve put out in prayer. I still have faith, even though I have doubt. I hear that ‘Mormons are so nice,’ and that’s really kind of beautiful and something we can strive for even when we’re disagreeing on things.” Read the full interview.
