2022 International Conference Theme and Logo Contest

22 IC Theme and Logo Contest EN

by Affirmation

April 28, 2022

Affirmation: LGBTQ Mormons, Families & Friends is pleased to announce the theme for our 2022 Affirmation International Conference: Rooted in Love.

Coming up with a theme for this year’s conference was a challenge The first in-person conference after two years opened the doors to many possibilities and made the weight of selecting this year’s theme all the greater. Many options were discussed, but when “Rooted in Love” was proposed by Justis Tuia, it immediately felt right for this time.

“Rooted in Love” reflects Affirmation’s mission to create communities where love is critical for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families and friends intersecting with the Church. It reflects the need for us to love one another and support each other on our individual journeys. It reflects the need for families to protect their queer children under the boughs of love. It reflects the need for more love in a world that can often seem so divided.

Conference Logo Design Contest

With the announcement of this year’s conference theme is an invitation for graphic artists to contribute their talent to the conference by participating in a logo design contest.

As a worldwide community, there are many talented individuals in Affirmation. We want to take every opportunity to showcase that talent and ensure that Affirmation reflects our community. We hope that those with talent in graphic design will take some time to consider the chosen theme for this year’s conference and use their talent to contribute to the success of this year’s event.

Those wishing to submit a logo to the design contest have until May 15th. Additional contest details can be found at conference.affirmation.org.

About the Affirmation International Conference

For over 40 years, Affirmation has hosted an annual event or conference. Today, the Affirmation International Conference is an exciting opportunity for the worldwide LGBTQIA+ Latter-day Saint community to come together as friends, representing our diverse spectrums of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, belief, and relationship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It’s a time to hold space for one another where we can land, heal, share, and be authentic.

Due to continued restrictions on large gatherings as a result of COVID-19, the 2021 Affirmation International Conference will be hosted virtually with plenary sessions and workshops streamed on September 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th. More information and the latest updates can be found at conference.affirmation.org.
