Affirmation Venezuela Focused on Transgender Community in April
Every day is a new opportunity that our Heavenly Father gives us to make a difference, improving the world and doing good to our most vulnerable brothers and sisters who need it most, inspiring us in the love of Jesus Christ, through His example, for he said, “Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40.
In April, Affirmation Venezuela focused on a highly vulnerable group in the country, the transgender community. A series of face-to-face and virtual meetings were held with representatives of this community to support and coordinate efforts and initiatives aimed at the welfare and critically needed social progress of and for these brothers and sisters. For example, we discussed the creation of the first transgender home in the country that will focus on providing protection, counseling, and comprehensive training to members of this community, who are often victims of violence, invisibility, and denial of their fundamental rights. In addition, Affirmation Venezuela began a strategic collaboration with UNITRANS during a meeting with its president, David Pinto, seeking to find ways of working together to benefit the local transgender community.
Affirmation Venezuela also hosted a meeting for its members to share relevant knowledge about gender identities featuring Dr. Gerardo Albornoz, an International Red Cross volunteer and active member of the chapter. These efforts reinforce our confidence to move forward, knowing that, although the challenges are multiple and stand like a rock, our firm belief and faith placed in constant actions, done with love and conviction, represent the drops that day by day erode and fade even the hardest stone.
