Affirmation Dominican leaders and other members have volunteered and joined forces to rent an office for The Rainbow Ark and have started program coordination, international affiliations, coordinating hosting and arranging visa process operations for incoming participants. For young adults 18+ and older The Organization will assist in work placement and provide help with accommodation, visas and relocation assistance.
I’d never been involved in political causes and had never been to a political rally in Utah. That changed after 2011 when my son Grayson discovered that he was FtM transgender. I was horrified to discover that it was still legal to discriminate against my child because of his gender identity, or against others because of their sexual orientation.
For those of us who are lesbian, gay, bi or transgender and LDS, it is reassuring that our Church has gone on record to stand with us against those who would bully us or discriminate against us.
Affirmation – LGBT Mormons, Families and Friends in Mexico are excited to host the Third Annual Conference of Affirmation Mexico, which will be held from November 14 to 16 at El Ejecutivo Hotel in Mexico City, Mexico. We regret to announce the passing of Howard B. Anderson (May 24,1928 – January 21, 2014). As president of the Los Angeles Stake, Pres. Anderson sponsored in the mid-1990s the “Third Friday Group” which gathered once a month at the Westwood Ward (behind the Los Angeles Temple).
A diverse group of speakers is scheduled to participate in the conference for LGBT Mormons, their families and friends to be held in Mexico City February 7-9. Speakers will include LGBT Mexican nationals, a Spanish-speaking mother who supports her gay son, Affirmation leaders, and other LGBT Mormons who will travel from the U.S.
Peter van der Walt (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Kathy Carlston (Salt Lake City) have just launched an LGBT Mormon podcast that informs, entertains, and inspires.
