Affirmation Dominican Republic celebrates Christmas Caribbean style.
Luis Rincón, national leader of Affirmation in Dominican Republic, together with other members of the chapter, organized the “One Heart” activity with which they celebrated the beginning of the Christmas holidays and the closing of Affirmation activities this year, in the purest Caribbean style. Chapter members enjoyed a weekend full of activities, which included spiritual and recreational activities.
2023 has been an exceptional year for Affirmation in the Dominican Republic since the chapter has resumed activities after a long wait, last August they held their national conference and have also had other recreational activities. The Christmas activity “One Heart” took place on December 9 in the city of San Cristóbal, the members of the chapter enjoyed a private villa where they cooked and played games in the pool.
Affirmation will continue to create spaces of safety, love and hope for the LGBTQ+ community in the Dominican Republic and in other countries where there are Latter-day Saints in need or allies who have been rejected for identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
